Top SchoolCristian Toma is a Senior Software Engineer and Associate Professor based in Bucharest with a PhD in Computer Science and over a decade of combined industry and academic experience. He designs and implements secure embedded and IoT systems at Oracle, contributing to Java Card, EMV payment solutions, and GlobalPlatform standards, while teaching data structures, distributed systems, and mobile/payment security at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. His background blends hands-on firmware and Java/JavaEE development with research in HPC/HTC, computational cryptography, and malware/antivirus analysis, giving him a rare cross-disciplinary view of system-level security and scalable architectures. He spent a formative period at University of Bremen during his MSc and brings practical consultancy experience from RADCOM, bridging enterprise product development and academic rigor. Notably, he publishes internationally and mentors students on cloud PaaS, IoT protocols (CoAP/MQTT), and Java Card security—skills he applies to both reference implementations and real-world payment ecosystems.
