Summary
👤
SeniorDale Ghent is a consulting engineer with nearly three decades of hands-on experience in networking, mass data storage, and compute systems integration, currently maintaining CI/CD and storage appliance internals at RackTop Systems. He has a 17-year focused career spanning cloud build, OS distribution development, and site reliability roles at Joyent, OmniTI, and Salesforce, and is an active contributor to the illumos open-source OS community. Dale’s strengths lie in operating-system internals, SAN/NAS/Lustre storage protocols, and lifecycle automation for bare-metal and cloud infrastructure. He pairs deep technical troubleshooting and release management skills with customer-facing advanced support on complex storage appliances. Based in Silver Spring, MD, he blends production-grade engineering with a side pursuit in astronomy—applying automation, imaging, and data sequencing techniques to observatory systems. This mix of long-term platform stewardship and experimental hobbyist engineering gives him a practical, systems-first perspective that benefits both product reliability and innovative integrations.
