Top SchoolDan Kurtz is a Senior Software Engineer with 11 years of experience building full‑stack systems that span JavaScript clients, backend infrastructure, caching layers, and AI services. He’s led technical architecture at Beyond 12 to scale college‑success tools for underrepresented students and helped grow mobile game platforms at Big Fish from prototype to millions of users. Based in Oakland, he combines a strong security and UX sensibility with pragmatic engineering—shipping everything from in‑game offer systems to deployment tooling and server scaling fixes. A cognitive science background and MISt in Information Studies give him a rare blend of user-centered thinking and systems-level rigor, and he favors projects that deliver measurable social impact.
