Danny Barbour
Principal AI Infrastructure Research Engineer at Lateralus Labs
Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Area United States
Summary
👤
SeniorDanny Barbour is a Principal AI Infrastructure Research Engineer with three decades of hands-on experience in distributed systems, data protection, and production-grade reliability. He founded and open-sourced g8e, a fail-closed governance protocol for agentic AI that brings hardware-bound human authorization, multi-agent consensus, and local-first audit ledgers to regulated environments from solo developers to Fortune 500 CISOs. His background scaling NAS-to-cloud backup at Igneous and Rubrik and running Nike’s global backup fabric informs a practical, integrity-first engineering posture: systems must prove actions before state changes occur. A former US Navy IT petty officer who stood up shipboard infrastructure from bare steel, he combines operational calm under pressure with a propensity to finish what he starts. Certified VOSB and TS-eligible through Lateralus Labs, he publishes reproducible, auditable tooling (g8e under Apache 2.0) rather than vendor gatekeeping, and treats infrastructure as a public good with commercial services layered on top.
