Dave Hrycyszyn is a seasoned technology leader and founder with over a decade building and exiting companies and leading engineering teams as CTO. He co-authored high-performance distributed protocols—Blockmania and Chainspace—for sharded, leaderless BFT consensus and has translated that research into products, including work with Facebook's Libra. Equally at home in open-source, he helped create the Scalatra microframework and recently contributed to the Nym mixnet client, blending cryptography, privacy and robust network engineering. As CTO of Side Labs and former CTO/co-founder roles at Nym and Head London, he combines hands-on systems design with company building and go-to-market experience. His approach pairs childlike technical curiosity with pragmatic skepticism, and he takes a particular interest in how organizational and social structures shape software systems. Based in the UK, he advises and builds privacy-focused distributed infrastructure that prioritizes real-world adversary resistance.
Nym provides strong network-level privacy against sophisticated end-to-end attackers, and anonymous transactions using blinded, re-randomizable, decentralized credentials.
Role in this project:

Contributions summary:Dave contributed to the implementation of the mixnet client by sketching out the core client types and integrating the Rust SDK. The user also added functionality for sending packets, refactored the directory structure to include clients, and worked on integrating with a test network. Furthermore, the user made several modifications to the underlying codebase, showing a deep involvement with network communication protocols.
