Senior🎓
Top SchoolDavid Brooks is a Technical Architect with 11 years of experience designing scalable, cloud-native systems and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham. He specialises in natural language processing and machine learning, and has repeatedly turned research-grade prototypes into production services—most recently leading a high-scale, low-latency API for one-click journal access and migrating legacy scraping tools to robust, test-covered libraries. Comfortable across the stack, he combines functional-programming discipline (Scala, Scheme influences) with modern AWS patterns, event-driven architectures, and infra-as-code to shorten feedback loops and improve reliability. David is also experienced in standards-driven integrations (LTI, OIDC, WCAG) for higher-education platforms and has built novel systems such as CRDTs and multilingual NLP pipelines. He balances hands-on engineering with coaching teams to own architecture and operational excellence, and often focuses on automating quality and delivery rather than just building features.
