Summary
David Cluet is a Research Engineer with over two decades of hands-on experience probing protein-protein interactions, combining deep molecular biology expertise with practical programming to turn complex experimental workflows into reproducible, automated analyses. Based at CNRS in Lyon, he developed and optimized assays (BRET, cross-linked co-IP, enhanced Y2H) and applied them to diverse biological problems from HIV-1 Nef–mediated CD4 downregulation to peptide aptamers that modulate apoptosis and muscle regeneration. His PhD in molecular retrovirology and engineering background underpin a rare blend of wet-lab rigor and object-oriented software development—one resulting tool even secured a patent. He leads integrative projects end-to-end, from expression cassette design through unbiased data processing, enabling cross-disciplinary collaborations and more sensitive detection of interaction determinants such as residues, PTMs, and mutations. Colleagues benefit from his methodical approach to quantification and his focus on making complex PPI data actionable for disease-focused research.
