David Cock is Head of Verification and a systems researcher specializing in the intersection of operating systems, formal methods, and computer architecture, with 11+ years delivering high-assurance, high-performance hardware-software platforms. A founding member of the seL4 project, he authored its final C implementation and produced the fastest published ARM IPC path while pioneering monadic refinement frameworks and automated low-level verification techniques. At ETH Zürich he led the Enzian project designing a 2-socket server with a 48-core CPU and large FPGA linked via coherent interconnect, overseeing everything from FPGA protocol stacks and CPU firmware to PCB design and production test. His PhD extended seL4’s verification to non-functional and probabilistic properties (notably side-channels), spawning an ongoing research line at UNSW and ETHZ. David combines hands-on hardware and firmware engineering with formal modelling and real-time hardware-trace verification to create practically trustworthy systems.
