David Hilton
Senior Java Developer at Mizuho
London, England, United Kingdom
Summary
👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolDavid Hilton is a Senior Java Developer with three decades of software engineering experience and over 20 years focused on Java (from 1.0 through modern 17–23 releases), bringing deep domain knowledge from 12+ years in financial services with clients such as Mizuho, HSBC, Deutsche Bank and the Bank of England. He combines hands-on development and DevOps skills—microservices, Ikasan ESB, JMS, MongoDB, CI/CD and cloud deployments—with a strong track record of leading large, multi-million pound projects, building offshore teams and driving Waterfall-to-Scrum transformations. Equally comfortable in high-volume, low-latency payments systems and risk analytics engines, he repeatedly bridges technical design, delivery and first-line production support in time-critical, customer-facing roles. A pragmatic engineering lead and mentor, he sets development standards, recruits and scales teams while championing TDD, automation and continuous integration. Unusually, he pairs this production focus with academic rigour (MSc Distinction) and a consistent appetite for exploring new languages and patterns, from Scala and functional techniques to modern Java features.
