Summary
David Humphreys is a genomics core leader and RNA biologist/bioinformatician with 13+ years’ experience bridging molecular biology and computational analysis at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Trained in both Biology and Computer Science, he discovered seminal mechanisms of miRNA-mediated mRNA degradation during his PhD and postdoc work and has since pivoted to deep sequencing technologies and RNA-Seq analysis. As Manager of the Genomics Core he runs the Proton sequencer, advises on experimental design, writes grants, and delivers end-to-end bioinformatic pipelines for RNA-Seq and whole exome/genome projects. He is the author of RNA-Seq tools including miRspring and Ularcirc, and maintains active collaborations exploring miRNA processing variants and non-coding RNAs in cardiac development. Known for combining hands-on wet-lab expertise with software development, he brings both operational leadership and method development to translational genomics workflows.
