Top SchoolDavid Marcus is a Caltech-trained applied and computational mathematician and seasoned engineering leader with 12 years building scalable, well-architected software at the intersection of data science and geospatial mapping. As co-founder and CTO of Host Compliance he led the engineering team through rapid growth and an acquisition by Vista Equity Partners, later serving as Chief Data Scientist at Granicus. He’s launched multiple data-driven products—Routefriend (1.5M monthly pageviews) and PointsOnAMap (hundreds of thousands of geocoded attractions derived from hundreds of millions of photos)—and now consults on AI and data science across industries. Deeply obsessive about geospatial data, his technical toolbox spans PostGIS, Mapbox, Mapnik, pandas and scikit-learn and includes custom algorithms for route planning and pareto optimization. Equally at home architecting production systems and training models, he combines startup founding experience with government-scale product delivery. Based in Berlin, he also brings an uncommon background in anthropology and community advocacy that informs practical, human-centered data solutions.
