Senior🎓
Top SchoolDavid Phillips is a veteran software leader and co-founder based in San Jose with 13 years of professional experience building large-scale, reliable distributed systems. As co-creator of Trino (formerly Presto SQL) and Co-Founder & CTO of IceGuard, he blends deep systems design with product-driven entrepreneurship. He led core engine development at Facebook that enabled interactive SQL on big data and then scaled that expertise into leadership roles at Starburst and the Trino Software Foundation. His background spans high-throughput email analytics, ad tech systems with multiple patents, and early platform work that solved service discovery and storage scaling. David is as comfortable shipping production infrastructure as he is stewarding open-source communities, and he often focuses on practical, performance-driven tradeoffs that make complex systems usable.
