Top SchoolDavid Watson is a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence at King's College London with a decade of experience bridging academic research and industry R&D. His work focuses on causal inference and interpretability in systems biology, complemented by teaching machine learning and advising doctoral candidates. Prior roles include postdoctoral research at UCL on causality, directing R&D at ThermoAI on NSF-funded combustion simulation projects, and applied data science in biomedical settings, reflecting a rare mix of theoretical depth and practical deployment. He brings a humanities-informed perspective from degrees in philosophy and social science of the internet, which surfaces in his interest in ethics and the foundations of data-driven decision-making. Notably, he has also translated technical analysis for broader audiences through freelance contributions to The Economist, demonstrating an ability to communicate complex models to non-specialists.
