David Worrall is a director, composer, and polymedia artist with 11+ years in leadership and a multi-decade career blending experimental music, sonification research, and immersive installation design. He holds a PhD in sonification and has developed software frameworks for turning large, high-frequency multivariate data into perceptible auditory experiences while researching embodied cognition approaches to solve the Mapping Problem. As Chair at Columbia College Chicago and researcher at Fraunhofer EAR he bridged academic, industrial, and creative practice, designing portable event theatres and tools for music composition and data sonification. His work—performed and exhibited internationally—addresses aesthetics, cognitive load, and real-time monitoring in data-driven sound, bringing an uncommon fusion of arts, STEM/STEAM advocacy, and hands-on systems-building to complex information problems.
