Davide Grassano is a software developer and former postdoctoral scientist with eight years of experience blending computational physics, materials science, and engineering-grade software development. Trained as a physicist (PhD) in atomistic simulation and topological materials, he builds high-throughput workflows and AiiDA plugins to scale materials discovery while optimizing HPC resource use. At EPFL he combined research with practical DevOps and sysadmin responsibilities—maintaining small HPC clusters, backup databases, monitoring systems, and deploying AiiDAlab services—now focusing on optimized build and deployment of scientific software at CECAM-HQ. A Python enthusiast who began by reimplementing core tooling in C, he also explores embedded electronics and ML (PyTorch), bringing a rare mix of deep domain modeling, workflow automation, and hands-on infrastructure experience.
