Donghyun Kim is an assistant professor and former research scientist with a decade of experience at the intersection of computer vision and deep learning, including appointments at MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab and Google AI. He earned his Ph.D. from Boston University after an MS at USC and has a strong track record in 3D face modeling, representation learning, and applied research across industry internships at Amazon, NEC, and ObEN. Donghyun blends academic rigour with production-minded research, having built RGB-D face modeling pipelines and contributed to vision projects in both lab and corporate settings. Based in Boston and now leading research and teaching at Korea University, he brings multidisciplinary experience from early hardware and app development to cutting-edge representation learning. An unusual strength is his continuity across hardware-level system work and high-level deep learning, enabling practical, reproducible vision systems.
