Top SchoolEmil Wåreus is a data-driven founder and machine learning engineer with nine years of experience building tools that make open source software safer and more manageable. As Co-Founder and former Head of Research & Development at Debricked (acquired by OpenText), he led data science efforts that powered vulnerability detection, license management, and ML-driven automation for OSS risk assessment. He blends deep ML and NLP research with hands-on engineering—using graph databases and data engineering—to turn noisy security signals into actionable platform features. Emil also co-founds privacy-preserving civic tech and AI initiatives, reflecting a commitment to open source and public-good projects beyond commercial success. Based in Sweden, he has an academic background in mechatronics and AI and a knack for translating cutting-edge research (e.g., capsule networks, CVE NLP) into production products. Colleagues describe him as a “spaghetti coder” who pairs pragmatic prototyping with rigorous research to ship impactful systems.
