Erendiz Tarakci is a neuroscience PhD student at the University of Minnesota with over a decade of research experience blending neuroimaging, data science, and clinical research. She holds an MS in Neuroimaging and Informatics from USC, a Data Analytics certificate and BA in Molecular & Cellular Neurobiology with a Computer Science minor from UC Berkeley, and has applied machine learning to stroke lesion segmentation and automated brain segmentation across multi-site MRI datasets. Practiced in Python, Matlab, SQL, EEG/MRI toolchains (FSL, Freesurfer, EEGLab) and data visualization (D3.js, Matplotlib), she runs end-to-end pipelines from data acquisition to model training and visualization. Known for cross-functional leadership and mentorship, she has led participant recruitment, database management, and co-authored first-author work while deploying algorithms on high-performance resources like NERSC. Outside the lab she balances analytic rigor with creative pursuits—swing dancing, DJing, woodworking and art—which informs her collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to problem solving.
