Summary
👤
SeniorEric Cranston is a Senior Software Engineer with 17 years of experience building and scaling distributed systems and full-stack applications, currently contributing to Shopify after leading platform work at Red Canary/Zscaler. He has deep experience modernizing legacy systems, owning reliability and observability for high-load services, and driving migrations with near-zero downtime across manufacturing and ecommerce domains. Eric blends hands-on engineering with product-minded leadership—acting as technical lead and product owner while mentoring teams and collaborating directly with stakeholders like CFOs and product managers. He’s comfortable across Rails monoliths, microservices, and front-end animation/UX challenges (including high-performance Canvas visualizations) and prefers pragmatic solutions that keep teams moving quickly without sacrificing reliability.
