Top SchoolErick Ramirez is a Developer Advocate and long-time distributed systems engineer with 11+ years of experience helping organisations run Apache Cassandra at internet scale. As an Apache Cassandra committer and former DataStax advocate, he blends deep operational expertise—from Solaris and Unix platform leadership to cloud service design—with a passion for making scalable data infrastructure accessible to developers. Based in Melbourne, he now focuses on bridging AI-ready data platforms and developer workflows at IBM, working on integrations that enable multimodal, governed AI on-prem and in the cloud. Erick is equally comfortable in incident war-rooms and conference stages, having led critical incident response teams and co-hosted global Cassandra community events. Behind the scenes he pairs hands-on systems troubleshooting with advocacy, turning complex distributed-database behaviours into pragmatic guidance and reproducible demos.
