Summary
👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolErnests Karlsons is a director-level software engineering leader based in Berlin with 14 years of experience building and scaling product teams and technology for startups and scale-ups. As a former co-founder and CTO he has repeatedly turned legacy or ambiguous domains—Excel-driven workflows, booking engines, and complex frontend UX—into reliable, revenue-generating products that attracted acquisitions. He combines hands-on full‑stack chops (Kotlin, Spring, TypeScript/React, GCP, GraphQL) with hiring, organizational design and product pivots, and is comfortable replacing CTOs, hiring VPs of Engineering, or stepping into fractional leadership roles. A pragmatic advocate for AI adoption and radical candour, he focuses on cutting through complexity while keeping teams empowered and occasionally using humour to defuse tough decisions. Trained in mathematics, he brings analytical rigor to product strategy and technical trade-offs, with a track record of rapidly improving delivery velocity and reliability.
