Top SchoolEthan Baker is a Raleigh-based software engineer and entrepreneur blending full-stack development with AI-focused computer science training at NC State. With eight years of hands-on experience that includes internships at Bio-Rad and Transend and a full-stack role at NC State’s Institute for Transportation Research and Education, he applies engineering rigor to scientific and infrastructure problems. As CEO/CTO of SmartPlanner he pairs product-minded leadership with rapid technical iteration, and he’s transitioned from intern to software engineer at Transend within a year. A former middle-school CS teacher and study-abroad student in Valencia, Ethan brings rare teaching empathy and international perspective to team collaboration and mentorship. He describes coding as an artistic practice—treating his keyboard as a paintbrush—which drives his curiosity-led approach to building elegant, user-focused systems.
