Etienne Cartolano is a technology executive and entrepreneur with over a decade of experience building and scaling AI-driven products, teams, and research programs across finance, academia, and industry. He has led large transformations at Banco Itaú—growing data science from 10 to 300+ practitioners, launching the bank’s experimentation platform and an AI Red Team—and successfully spun out and exited an AI prototyping studio. With a Sloan Fellows MBA from MIT and a doctorate in Computer Engineering from USP, he blends deep technical research (including postdoc work in AI) with board-level strategy and venture-building. Today he leads ACT Nexus to industrialize advanced analytics and unlock new revenue streams while continuing hands-on AI research at Veritas Automata and teaching applied architectures at FIA. Notably, he co-founded major corporate-academic initiatives (C2D, ICTi) that secured multi‑million-dollar research partnerships and scaled national research capacity—evidence of his ability to translate scientific investment into real business and societal impact.
