Eunkyu Park is a PhD candidate in Artificial Intelligence at Seoul National University and a visiting researcher at CMU’s Human-Computer Interaction Institute, with eight years of experience building and evaluating multimodal vision-language systems. His research focuses on alignment and trustworthiness of VLMs through preference learning and user-centered interpretability, bridging rigorous model development with human evaluations. He has led industry-collaborative projects on long-form video understanding for autonomous vehicles with Hyundai’s AIRLAB and shipped practical ML solutions—such as GAN-based image animation and object-aware video analysis using R-CNN and YOLOv3—during his time in industry. Educated at Columbia (BS CS) and Simon’s Rock (BA Math), he combines strong theoretical grounding with hands-on engineering across computer vision and data science. Based in Pittsburgh, he brings a cross-institutional perspective (SNU, Columbia, CMU) and a knack for turning complex research into applied systems that improve model interpretability and real-world performance.
