Top SchoolEwei Chao is a seasoned designer-engineer with a decade of experience building and operating large-scale systems, from Android apps and Google App Engine services to the world's largest private email cloud. He has progressed through individual contributor and leadership roles—including Principal Site Reliability Engineer and Software Engineering Manager—at companies like Smarsh, Micro Focus, and HPE, bringing deep hands-on expertise in Java, Python, indexing engines (Lucene, IDOL), and both SQL and directory services. Comfortable across Windows, macOS, and Linux, he blends low-level knowledge (Verilog, MIPS, x86) with practical web and cloud delivery, and is fluent in Agile/SCRUM workflows. Based in San Ramon, CA, Ewei pairs systems thinking with a designer’s sensibility—equally focused on reliability, performance, and usable architecture—making him effective at translating complex requirements into robust, maintainable solutions.
