Summary
Fabien Leboeuf is a biomechanical engineer with 18+ years of clinical and research experience building and running motion analysis laboratories, currently serving as Technical Lead of the CHU de Nantes gait lab. Trained as a mechanical engineer and PhD in biomechanics, he led the clinical deployment of Vicon motion capture systems and routine 3D gait analysis for rehabilitation and preoperative assessment. He was recruited to the University of Salford to help develop the Conventional Gait Model 2 and is the original developer of the open-source Python CGM2 implementation compatible with Vicon Nexus and Qualisys QTM. A polyglot developer (Python, Matlab, R, C++) comfortable with data pipelines, capture software and statistical analysis, he bridges hands-on clinical practice and computational biomechanics. Notably, he combines academic research credentials with practical lab engineering—designing instrumentation, workflows and software that make advanced gait quantification a routine clinical tool.
