Fei Gao is a tenured Associate Professor and doctoral supervisor at Zhejiang University who leads the Field Autonomous System and Computing (FAST) Laboratory and the Flying Autonomous Robotics group, focusing on aerial robots, autonomous navigation, motion planning, optimization, and SLAM. He earned his Ph.D. in Electronic and Computer Engineering from HKUST (2019) and his B.Eng. from Zhejiang University, and has built a decade-long research career bridging theory and real-world robotic systems. As PI of the Center of Autonomous Navigation of Swarm Robotics and recipient of multiple best-paper awards and major national grants, he has published over 70 papers in top robotics venues, including a Science Robotics cover feature. His work has been showcased by mainstream media (CCTV, AAAS, IEEE Spectrum) and translated into high-impact applications in field autonomy and swarm navigation. Known for combining rigorous optimization and practical system design, he often leads projects that move from algorithm to field-deployable platforms.
