Top SchoolFlip Holtrop is a PhD candidate in physical chemistry at the University of Amsterdam with 11 years of hands-on experience probing mechanisms of sensitive phosphine/borane frustrated Lewis pairs and developing them as metal-free catalysts. He combines inert-atmosphere experimental skills with advanced quantum chemical modelling and Python scripting to semi-automate and deepen molecular-level insight, and has published multiple papers and textbook chapters. Based in Amsterdam, he mentors and teaches Master and Bachelor students and presents work internationally, demonstrating an ability to translate complex research into clear instruction. Outside the lab he applies his technical curiosity to Linux, Kubernetes, DevSecOps, and embedded tinkering with Raspberry Pi and Arduino, reflecting a rare blend of wet-lab rigor and practical computational/automation fluency.
