Franck Vidal is a computational imaging scientist with nine years of research and academic experience and a strong track record translating advanced imaging science into practical tools for medicine and radiotherapy. Currently at STFC and an honorary professor at Bangor University, he combines expertise in medical physics, stochastic optimisation, HPC and machine learning with a background in computer graphics and haptics. His career bridges academic leadership roles and hands-on GPU-accelerated simulation work from UC San Diego to INRIA, producing clinically focused simulators and tomographic reconstruction methods. He has a history of coordinating multidisciplinary projects that moved prototypes toward pre-commercialisation and clinical relevance, and he still contributes to community initiatives as secretary of the UK Eurographics chapter. Based in the UK, Franck is as comfortable developing low-level simulation kernels as he is shaping research directions and mentoring students. An oft-overlooked strength is his sustained ability to fuse visualisation and physical modelling to make complex imaging data actionable for clinicians.
