Franco Fichtner is a Build and Release Engineer with 15 years of experience building robust, secure infrastructure and release tooling, currently driving release engineering at Deciso Group. He blends deep systems and backend expertise—from FreeBSD pkg work and kernel/base build scripts to plugin and DNSBL enhancements in OPNsense—with hands-on leadership history as a former technical lead and CTO. Franco’s open-source contributions show a focus on automating complex builds and package workflows, improving reliability and developer experience across projects used in networking and security stacks. Known for clear technical writing and documentation, he pairs code changes with user-facing guides and troubleshooting improvements to reduce operational friction. Based in Lützen, Germany, he brings a pragmatic, detail-oriented approach informed by earlier low-level networking and firewall development.
