Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolFrank Xu is a seasoned technology leader and inventor with 13+ years of experience driving commercialization of nano- and micro-structured optical technologies, currently serving as Magic Leap Fellow and VP. He holds 80+ US patents and 30+ publications, and has a rare blend of hands-on materials science (Ph.D. in Polymer Science) and executive experience building teams, raising funds, and guiding startups to successful exits. His domain expertise spans nanoimprinting lithography, AR display brightness and color uniformity, high-throughput nano-structured manufacturing, and optoelectronic packaging—often solving problems by tailoring resist chemistry and precision inkjet deposition for sub-micron control. Equally comfortable in the lab and the boardroom, he has repeatedly translated novel processes into scalable production paths and new markets. Based in Austin, he brings a proven track record of turning deep materials innovation into commercially viable products.
