Gerald Storer is a Senior Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineer with 15 years’ experience designing and delivering automation systems for rail and underground mining, currently leading the development of automated Load-Haul-Dump vehicles. He combines hands-on mechanical design (Autodesk Inventor) with control algorithm development, simulation and software skills (Python, C++, MATLAB) to take concepts through to fielded products. Gerald has progressed from student engineer to team lead and now senior engineer, blending project management and deadline-driven delivery with deep systems thinking. Trained with First Class Honours in Mechatronics and a concurrent Commerce background, he brings a rare mix of technical rigour and commercial awareness to complex automation projects. Notably, his career bridges hardware, control software and infrastructure integration—making him effective at resolving cross-domain trade-offs that often stall vehicle automation programs.
