Gerard Casey is a city modelling and transport systems expert with 10+ years of experience bridging academic research and applied practice as Principal Research Fellow at UCL’s CASA and a long-standing Associate at Arup. He leads the CASA–Arup City Modelling Lab and serves on the MATSim Association board, specialising in agent-based, city-scale simulations for infrastructure scenarios and policy testing such as metro planning and road pricing. Gerard’s work focuses on enabling sustainable, equitable, and growth-friendly transport-oriented development, emphasising evidence-based modelling for enlightenment rather than post-hoc justification. Trained at Cambridge (PhD/MPhil) and with experience spanning industry, academia and early-stage renewables, he combines rigorous theory with deployable tooling to improve real-world policy decisions. An understated strength is his ability to translate complex, research-grade models into practical insights that inform major urban investment choices.
