Giacomo Tanganelli is a software engineer and IoT specialist with a Ph.D. in Information Engineering and over a decade of research and development experience spanning academia and industry. He built deep expertise across the full IoT stack—from radio and LPWAN technologies (LoRaWAN, NB‑IoT, BLE, 6LoWPAN/RPL) to application protocols (CoAP, MQTT, LwM2M, oneM2M) and QoS frameworks for distributed gateway environments. As a Postdoc at the University of Pisa he contributed to EU projects and later joined Cisco to apply research-grade solutions at scale, including SDN for constrained networks. He is the creator of the Python CoAPthon library and its asyncio successor aioCoAPthon, and has ported Contiki OS CoAP to FreeRTOS on ESP8266, demonstrating a strong track record of open-source tooling that bridges research and production. Colleagues know him for combining protocol-level rigor with practical system engineering and for turning academic prototypes into reusable developer artifacts.
