Hanna Kranas is a computational genomics postdoctoral researcher with a decade of experience applying machine learning and privacy-preserving methods to cancer genomics. Currently at Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute within the SECURED EU project, she develops federated risk-stratification models and works on polygenic risk scores to enable multi-hospital collaboration while protecting patient data. Her PhD at IRB Barcelona (ITN CONTRA fellow) investigated how DNA damage, repair, and epigenomic features shape mutational processes, giving her deep domain expertise in computational oncology. She combines strong programming and data-analysis skills with hands-on mentorship—having supervised trainees who progressed to PhD—and an active interest in technology transfer and intellectual property. Outside the lab she advocates for mental well-being in academia and cultivates creative outlets like singing, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to science and collaboration.
