Ian Eckert is Director of Collection & Exhibition Information at The Museum of Modern Art, leading stewardship of MoMA’s TMS collection database and the migration of major archives including the Department of Film and the Museum Archive Image Database. With nearly two decades at MoMA, he progressed through every role in CEI before becoming department head in 2013, and now drives cross-departmental workflows, reporting, and data-driven decision support for exhibitions and collection care. He combines an artist’s training (MFA, University of Pennsylvania) with deep institutional knowledge to translate curatorial and archival needs into practical information systems. A committed educator, he also guest lectures at NYU to prepare the next generation of museum professionals in collection and exhibition management.
