Ian Fellows is a statistician and data scientist with 15+ years of experience translating mathematical statistics into production-ready analytics and scalable algorithms. He holds a PhD in Statistics from UCLA and has authored 24 papers spanning AI, social network modeling, and disease applications, while his Texas Hold’em AI ranked second globally in 2007–08. As founder and President of Fellows Statistics and former Chief Scientist at OspreyData, he builds teams and systems for near real-time analytics on streaming sensor and big data platforms using R, Python, Spark and Hadoop. Ian is the primary author of the award-winning open-source Deducer R GUI, reflecting a rare combination of statistical rigor, usable visualization design, and software engineering. He routinely bridges academia and industry—applying exponential-family network models to public-health problems and deploying scalable pipelines for clients across education, marketing, and industrial IoT.
