Top SchoolIlias Stamatis is a kernel and hypervisor engineer with 14 years of experience, currently working as an SDE II on AWS's Nitro platform in Cambridge, UK. He builds and upstreams low-level virtualization features—past work includes enabling Xen-on-Nitro, device emulation, and implementing nested TSC scaling for KVM/Linux. His background spans fuzzing and vulnerability research, libvirt and lib389 contributions through Google Summer of Code, and a strong academic foundation in distributed systems and computer science from TU Dresden and Universidad Carlos III. Ilias combines production-grade hypervisor development with a security-minded approach to OS kernels, bridging research-quality prototyping and large-scale cloud deployment. Colleagues describe him as someone who surfaces subtle timing and virtualization issues early, turning brittle edge cases into robust platform features.
