Ilina Adhikari is a mechanical engineer and incoming rotational New Grad at Blue Origin with nine years of hands-on experience across spacecraft structures, mechanisms, and human systems engineering. A Purdue graduate, she has led interdisciplinary habitat and robotics projects—most notably as design lead for a closed-loop analog habitat and project manager for a life-sized autonomous Wizard’s Chess—translating human factors and space-architecture research into buildable systems. Her internships span Blue Origin (valves and lunar lander mechanisms), NASA spacesuit development (CAD mockups and cost-saving 3D printed seal proposals), and General Motors (materials DOE and data dashboards), giving her a practical, cross-domain perspective on design-for-manufacturing and test. She has real mission experience as an analog astronaut with Asclepios V, completing isolation, EVAs, and extreme environment training, and she’s secured significant funding and led hydroponics and BLiSS development for campus habitats. Curious and field-oriented, she pairs CAD and rapid-prototyping skills with human-centered design, and outside work pursues climbing, backcountry adventures, and ambitions like piloting and long-distance thru-hiking.
