Ismael Gomez-miguelez is a telecommunications engineer and director with over 13 years of hands-on experience building and leading software-defined radio (SDR) projects for GSM, UMTS and LTE across heterogeneous platforms including DSPs, FPGAs, x86 and ARM. He founded and leads LTE development at Software Radio Systems, and was the lead developer of the open-source ALOE SDR framework, reflecting deep expertise in real-time, distributed radio processing and virtualization for Cloud-RAN and Massive MIMO. His work spans low-level PHY/MAC implementation and system-level orchestration—debugging uplink/retransmission behaviors and merging complex branch conflicts in the widely used srsRAN 4G suite. With a PhD-level research background from UPC and postdoctoral work at Trinity College Dublin, he combines academic rigor with product-focused engineering. Based in Barcelona, he uniquely blends firmware/FPGA skills, DSP assembly experience and cloud-native thinking to bridge prototyping and production for wireless infrastructure.
