Senior🎓
Top SchoolJaan De Balsch is a computational scientist and Junior Application Specialist with 11 years of experience building and maintaining scientific software and HPC user environments from Finland. He specializes in developing well-tested, documented Julia packages and clean APIs for simulation and mathematical optimization, and he’s experienced containerizing applications and managing Julia environments on HPC clusters. At CSC he improves user workflows, leverages OpenStack and OpenShift, and previously analyzed parallel file system usage in his master’s thesis—an uncommon blend of hands-on cluster ops and research software engineering. He prefers Julia for its performance and modern features but retains practical Python experience, and routinely automates CI/CD with Git-based workflows. Colleagues rely on him for turning complex scientific models into reproducible, production-ready code that runs at scale.
