Jabu Mtsweni is a seasoned cyber and information security leader and researcher who currently heads the Cyber and Information Research Centre at CSIR and holds research fellow roles at Stellenbosch University and UNISA. With over 17 years across academia and industry and an NRF C2 rating, he combines strategic RDI leadership, technology transfer, and hands-on cyber warfare research to build nationally relevant capabilities and commercialisable solutions. He has authored 60+ peer-reviewed publications, supervises Masters and PhD students, and regularly presents at international conferences, reflecting deep academic and applied impact. Beyond technical leadership he co-founded the Suganag Foundation and is passionate about youth development and mentoring, translating research into social impact. An endurance athlete who completed the Comrades Marathon in 2019, he brings the same persistence and long-term planning to developing talent pipelines and sustaining national cyber capability.
