Top SchoolJacob Oursland is an embedded systems and edge computing entrepreneur with 11 years of hands-on experience building networked devices, wearables, and IoT platforms. As founder/co-founder of multiple ventures—including Dakota Engineering, Cloud Inversion, and Orion Autonomous Systems—he spans firmware to cloud: bootloaders and kernel drivers in C, applications in C/C++/Go/Python, and containerized services for Kubernetes. His background includes sensor fusion and GPS-denied navigation research (MS EE), commercial product architecture, and mission-critical firmware for sonar and radar systems, reflecting a rare blend of academic rigor and production engineering. Based in San Marcos, CA, he combines systems-level debugging and hardware bring-up with cloud-native deployment practices, and is known for turning complex embedded constraints into scalable edge-to-cloud solutions.
