Top SchoolJacob Pernell is a multidisciplinary freelance VFX artist and designer based in Seoul with 10 years of experience crafting semi-realistic real-time effects for PC, console, and mobile games using Unreal Engine, Unity, Houdini and a suite of DCC tools. He combines deep UX and interaction design experience with music composition, sound design, and hands-on front-end engineering, enabling implementation-aware visual effects that align with gameplay, narrative and user feedback. Previously a Senior UX Engineer at ServiceNow and lead composer for a language-learning app, Jacob excels at bridging art, design and engineering teams to reduce ambiguity and ship cohesive experiences. His background in AR/VR, motion design and audio implementation gives him a rare end-to-end perspective on production pipelines, and he experiments with 2D hand-drawn flipbooks and stylized VFX alongside technical tools. Fluent in prototyping and iterative testing, he leverages code to validate timing and behavior, and is currently studying Korean, Japanese and Mandarin—an indicator of his curiosity and ability to work across cultures.
