Top SchoolJacy Gao is a Senior Software Engineer based in Melbourne with 12+ years building large enterprise and distributed systems, including backends that have served over 500 million users and supported 3 million DAU. She has led greenfield projects and scaled startup products to millions of daily users, combining hands-on engineering in Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, C++ and PHP with cloud architecture on AWS and Azure. At Microsoft and PEXA she drove microservices architecture, API-first design, CI/CD standardization and cross-squad delivery, and at EA implemented event-sourced game services and a two-phase commit on DynamoDB for consistent transactions. Known for introducing Go to teams, mentoring engineers through workshops and pair programming, and designing resilient workflow and matchmaking systems, she balances deep technical design with operational ownership. Currently focused on AI research at Algolia, she brings a rare mix of high-scale production experience and a curiosity for emerging AI infrastructure. An efficient systems thinker, she often pairs pragmatic trade-offs with automation to reduce costs and increase release velocity.
