Top SchoolJai Smith is a software engineer based in New York with a decade of hands-on experience building full-stack and embedded systems, currently contributing to Cursor after progressive engineering roles at Amazon. A Dartmouth Computer Science student-turned-professional, he has shipped production services at scale and moved from SDE to SDE2 at Amazon before joining a startup-focused engineering role. His background blends web and mobile product engineering—React/Firestore apps, iOS platforms used by hundreds of users—and low-level electrical/CAN work for Dartmouth Formula Racing. He’s led teams and mentoring programs (DALI Lab, HackDartmouth), built an award-winning offline mesh messaging prototype, and driven data-driven campus infrastructure reporting that informed multimillion-dollar upgrades. Equally comfortable prototyping hardware interfaces and architecting cloud-backed experiences, he brings a pragmatic, product-minded approach to engineering. Unobvious: he pairs production software delivery with prior research experience reducing sensor noise by 91%, showing a knack for both algorithmic signal work and user-facing products.
