Jake Bouma is a data and engineering leader with 10 years’ experience translating high-performance scientific computing into production-scale data platforms and ML systems. Trained as a nuclear physicist (Stellenbosch, KU Leuven), he moved from CERN research into industry, founding and scaling data science teams, architecting containerized big-data stacks, and leading data platform strategy at major Nordic fintech and industrial AI firms. He combines hands-on model development and platform architecture—shipping anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and API-driven ML services—while also running SAP go-lives and complex data migrations. Now Oslo-based and freelancing, he’s driven by a blend of mathematical curiosity and practical execution, with a long-term interest in channeling Scandinavian digital capital into East and Southern Africa.

🌱 This project aims to bridge the current gap between controlled-environment agriculture and the computer vision and robotics fields. The intended outcome is to develop an open-source toolkit for plant analysis that can be adapted to container-size smart farms, vertical farms, or even small window farms at home. The project will enable farmers world wide to automate and optimize their food production.
