Top SchoolJake Varghese is a senior engineer and long-time Ruby on Rails specialist with 14+ years of professional experience and over a decade building Rails apps, having shipped more than 200 projects and authored multiple Rails gems and patches. He currently architects secure, compliant fintech systems at Lendeavor while consulting through Flvorful and Toptal, bridging full-stack development with infrastructure, data, and compliance (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR). His background includes scaling high-throughput systems—cutting response times from seconds to milliseconds—and re-architecting data tiers using technologies like MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Redis, Kubernetes, Go, and React. Comfortable from startup CTO roles to enterprise engagements (McKinsey, Compose.io), he pairs hands-on coding with product-minded architecture and a knack for rapid, pragmatic refactors that improve conversion and reliability. Based in Oakland, he blends deep Rails expertise with a wider polyglot toolset and a history of shipping both consumer and enterprise-facing platforms.
