Top SchoolJames Ballantine is a Staff Software Engineer and former Engineering Manager with over a decade of full‑stack experience building data‑driven web applications and developer platforms. He has led migrations from legacy front‑end stacks to modern React/Redux and TypeScript architectures, and authored organization‑wide JavaScript and SASS/CSS style guides to improve code quality and consistency. At Capsule he built and managed teams delivering a distributed internal app used by pharmacists, techs, and support, and previously led the rebuild of a communications platform (SMS, chat, phone). His background spans backend microservices in Java and Python, data‑intensive page apps, and operational tooling for scalable systems. Pragmatic and hands‑on, James blends people leadership with deep implementation experience, often surfacing developer ergonomics improvements that reduce maintenance overhead. Based in New York, he now applies that blend of technical breadth and delivery focus at Rippling.
