Top SchoolJames Barney is a technology leader with 12 years of experience building cloud, platform, and data engineering capabilities and now leads Global AI Enablement at MetLife. He has a proven track record of architecting scalable AWS solutions and guiding large cloud migrations from hands-on engineering at Ally to platform leadership roles. James blends technical depth—grounded in big data and ETL work from Lowe’s and Accenture—with people-first leadership that builds high-performing, cross-functional teams. His recent MBA from Wake Forest complements a pragmatic focus on aligning AI and cloud investments to business outcomes. Notably, he began his career solving experimental physics hardware problems and building real-time Python ETL for political sentiment analysis, a background that surfaces in his appetite for practical, data-driven solutions. Based in Charlotte, he favors open-source tooling to accelerate delivery and foster a culture of continuous learning.
